Affordable Outpatient Rehab for the East Bay Area

Looking for a way to stop using drugs/alcohol, without losing your job or disrupting everything about life?

Let’s talk about Outpatient Rehab programs.

What "Outpatient Rehab" Means

Addiction Treatment on Your Schedule, for Busy Bay Area Professionals

Not all schedules fit the ‘8am – 5pm’ model. The “traditional” residential rehab model does not work for many. With residential rehab, you put all other life activities on hold while going through the program.

“I’d lose my job if I took that much time off!”
(This isn’t actually true…here’s an article showing why.)

The good news is, you don’t have to take time off. Or quit a job. All you need is a rehab program that has flexible hours.

Introducing the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Outpatient rehab has significant advantages for those with busy schedules.

What is it? It’s a rehab program that follows a different, flexible scheduling. Instead of 30 days in a rehab center, you work out dates & times for meetings, treatment, and counseling around your other to-dos.

If you fit these criteria, then outpatient rehab is for you:

  1. You don’t need as intense a treatment option as residential rehab (determined by professional rehab technicians)
    1. Most clients show this with a strong personal commitment to recovery
  2. You have a stable work/home environment OR You’re a full-time student with a stable routine
  3. You don’t need 24-hour supervision to stick with a rehab commitment

Advantages of an Outpatient Rehab Program

Why opt for outpatient? Here’s all the reasons:

  • Less Expensive – More affordable than residential rehab.
  • Flexible Hours – Attend rehab while working, or going to school.
  • No Overnight Stays – You’ll return home each evening.
  • Results-Oriented Treatment – Outpatient is effective for both drug rehabilitation and alcoholism rehabilitation.
  • Peer Group Support – You’ll be in a supportive environment with others in recovery.

Finally, it allows you to remaining in your own home and your own community…which makes building a better life in your community much easier.

How Outpatient Works

Outpatient rehab uses a weekly structure, spacing meetings throughout the week. The meetings vary between appointments with counselors, and group/community sessions.

In general, this is how the week would work out:

  1.  Meetings at a Support Systems Homes facility 3 days a week, for 3 hours per day
  2. One additional hour per week with your counselor
  3. Total weekly hours: 10

When these take place depends on your schedule. That’s why SSH offers outpatient groups several times throughout the week, day and night.

How long does outpatient rehab last? This varies with your individual program. It can go from 30 days up to 90 days, depending on your progress. Your counselor will go through this with you when you work up your treatment schedule together (which we call “intake”).

How do you determine progress? It comes from two factors:

  1.  Feedback from peers during the group/community sessions, and
  2. A regular assessment from the SSH team.

Both times, you’ll receive an update from your counselor, so you know you’re making good progress!
